Toddler sleep hacks that actually work (from a tired mom)

If your toddler isn’t sleeping well… I feel your pain 😅
Between night wake-ups, early mornings, and bedtime battles, sleep has been one of the hardest parts of this stage.

These are a few things that actually helped us — nothing fancy, just real-life changes that made a difference.

1. A consistent (but simple) bedtime routine

I used to overcomplicate this, but honestly, just doing the same few things every night helped a lot.
Bath, pajamas, book, bed — nothing perfect, just predictable.

2. White noise made a HUGE difference

This was one of the biggest game-changers for us.
It helped block out random noises and made it easier for my toddler to stay asleep longer.

We use a simple white noise machine and it’s been a lifesaver.

3. A toddler sleep clock helped with early wake-ups

Early mornings were brutal for us 😅
Using a toddler clock that changes color helped my child understand when it was time to stay in bed vs. get up.

It didn’t fix things overnight, but it definitely helped over time.

4. Don’t underestimate comfort

Small things like pajamas, room temperature, and lighting actually made a bigger difference than I expected. Apparently, my husband and I make cold babies, and we figured out quickly that the best way to get our babies to sleep solid through the night was to make them warm, which meant we invested in sleep sacks for our toddlers. You may be thinking, ‘Aren’t sleep sacks for babies?’, and the answer simply is…no. As an adult, we love snuggling under blankets and snuggling a snuggie, so why wouldn’t toddlers?

5. Lower your expectations (this helped me the most)

This one isn’t a product, but it matters.

Once I stopped expecting perfect sleep, everything felt less stressful — and honestly, things improved from there.
